Gilmore 1931 Alcuitian SAVANNAH Sparrow 01 May 24 Solgoci Harbo, Solgoci Is., Alaska Very common - most often seen on hill sides & flats - around willows, Scarse on top of ridges & along sea shore. Commonest form of bird. May 31 Unalaska, Unalaska Is., Alaska Very common - by far the commonest form - seen often from sea level far up sides of hills. Seems to prefer open fields. June 11 Unalakleet Norton Sd. Alaska Quite common in tundra. Two nests found, well concealed. Concealed under dwarf birch. 4" across, 3" deep - lined with duck (?) feathers; 5 eggs, light blue background & dark brown blotches. Sept. 10 Unalaska, Unalaska Is., Aleutians The commonest land bird. Seen almost every where one goes, but they prefer a bushy or heavily overgrown habitat. I have seen them skylk along a path in front of me for 100 yds or so, progressing by short swift runs rather than
