547 Silmore WHEATEAR (2) 1931 of their flight generally carried them several feet along the ground on a rapid run after they lit. White patch at base of tail very conspicuous. No notes or calls noticed as yet; generally I haven't given them time to do much but dodge lead shot. August 22 Very common everywhere on the peninsula from the end of the point, along the long stretch of sand + gravel + grass to the tundra rises halfway to the hills. They nervously fly about or run rapidly over the tundra. No call notes noted. Aug 24 Cape Thompson, Alaska, Several pairs were seen in the rocky cliff of the cape.
