535 Gilmore 1931 NORTHERN RAVEN (2) Shoutman, schoolteacher at Sevoonga and reliable informant states that in winter the ravens come around the village in small groups may easily be killed. In fact, last winter, he shot a half dozen to be rid of them. Members of the crew reported Ravens resting on Besboro Island. Informants were reliable. (Norton Sound.) Point Hope, Arctic Ocean, Alaska. Aug 2. Saw 4 ravens flying over the beach + then across the tundra about 6 miles east of the village. Made doubtful sight record in hills just north of Cape Thompson August 12 Spec. 1868 was alone - and hovered long enough about the Mission graveyard to get shot. Sept. 1 St. Matthews, Bering Sea. I saw several pairs among the seething crags at the side of Cape Sloy of Russia's Cliff.
