Gilmore St. Michael Horned Owl 1931 Mr. Kugler, here at the Pacific Amer- ican Whaling Station of Akutan Bay, Akutan Is., relates the following: In the fall of 1929 three owls, "larger than ravens" hung around the buildings of the station for about a week. They flew close about him in the dusk of evening and uttered no sounds. He shot one but was not able to locate the body the next morning. Perhaps they were Great Gray Owls
