508 TUFTEO PUFFIN O Lunda cirthata Salmon 1931 May 8, 1931 off coast of Wash. South of Cape Glatton. Today first the first time these birds were in evidence, and were seen flying in groups of from one to fifteen. May 19 Sey Strait this morning as we steamed up & out of the northern part of the inland passages many of these birds were present in flocks from 2-8. Boat often got as close as 50 yds. Flight like ducks. Head plumes visible! As many as 200 ± seen altogether. May 21 - Marmot Bay a few seen today, singles & pairs. Generally they were flying strictly down a quartering down wind in the 50 m.p.h. wind they traveled at terrific speed but never soared. June 21 July 12 Sevonga, St. Lawrence Is., Bering Sea, Alaska Quite common were found resting on the rocky cliffs around Sevonga & Gambell
