341 Gilmore PACIFIC FULMAR Fulmaris glacialis 1931 May 28 Shelikof Strait - that this evening while it was very stormy several "light phase" fulmars followed the boat. By that time it was so rough that most of the gulls had left + consequently shearwaters + fulmars had the boat to themselves. They seemed to enjoy the gale + spray, sailing + wheeling into and at right angles to the wind. Our light phase fulmar played (?) around the bow of the boat on the leeward side just forward of the flying spray. May 23 Near Shrimpoff Is. Shock of fulmars 1/4 mi. from boat - 50±dark at 3 light June 19 St. Lawrence Is Bering Sea, Alaska one in light color phase seen near N.E. cape. On July 5 while going to Siviktoke bay from Sevoonga we came upon the carcass of a dead whale that the natives had pulled up in shallow water, and saw either sitting on the water, feeding on the blubber or flying nearby, about 100 fulmars.
