496 Gilmore 1931 CALIF. MURRE (2) Uria aalgea californica They sometimes they dove & sometimes they took swing and often the boat approached it within 75-yds before they took action. Several immatures were seen in the flocks. May 15 - Seymour Narrows - many seen today in flocks from 2-12 ± a larger percentage of immatures noted. May 18 Common thrown out the day in flocks from 2-18±. Dr Snow Passage between Clarence & Summer Straits I observed a single alight in a flock of 8 in the following manner: Came up from behind on left side, circled around & approached from the front. It lit with would wing flaking & foot spreading mouth method but as soon as it touched the water it dove head foremost under the surface & did not reappear for about 5 secs. after which it was an integral member of the flock.
