493 Gilman ARCTIC TERN (3) 1931 Yet + on the other occasion several birds from a flock of a half dozen "struck" at me repeatedly. Perhaps there were nests nearby, tho a hasty search disclosed none. Many times they circled at me. They use their long forked tail a great deal in flight & except when they are flying rapidly, it is expanded to various widths & kept moving continually. August 22 Still here, tho in reduced numbers - one day I saw quite a few flying low over the gravelly land, apparently hunting some sort of food. Still common back in the lagoons towards the hills.
