484 Gilman SABINE GULL (3) 1931 the waves washed up a white foam on the shallow shore. Most have the black heads but there were some immatures in the bunch August 22 Saw a few along the beach the other day but they are going scarce & don't seem to be inhabiting the lagoons in large numbers any more, at least the particular small lagoon near the decem's boat house. Aug 29. None a stone bird was with the flock of Glaucous Gulls around the ship. It seemed very fearless, scarcely moving out of the way of the launches. Nov.6. Cross Sound, Alaska (S.E.) As we enter the Inside Passage tonight we leave the open gulf & heavy seas behind, and perhaps also the small dunite Sabine Gull now minus the black head, tho a dusky patch still brings & the rage of the buck. Perhaps a half dozen in all have been seen since we left Unalaska
