Gilmore BONAPARTE GULL @
1931 Oct. 2 Between Unalaska & English
Bay. During this two hour cruise
immature
I saw several dozen Bonaparte
Gulls all told. They were scattered
among the more numerous Kittiwakes
but their black upper wing covers &
the black tipped tails of the immatures
were easily to pick out. No adults were
To be seen.
Oct. 7. Kutan Pass, W. Aleutian Is.
I saw them occasionally thrown out
the 6 hour trip across the rough
windy pass. They were straggling
individuals and not flocks. Most
of them were immatures and only
one or two had any real black feathering
on the head.
