Gilmore BONAPARTE GULL Laurus philadelphia
1931 May 15, 1931 Seymour Narrows -
Today at the east end of the
narrows I saw several large flocks
of these pretty tern-like gulls. One
flock was flying east & south along
the east shore & seemed to be
traveling steadily without stopping
& forage. The other flocks were
encountered in the narrows as
they were resting on the surface.
The boat caused them to make
flight but there seemed to be
no foraging. All were apparently
in flocks & evidently migrating !!
May 16 - Luce Charlotte St.- Finlayson Charn.
Several flocks - Migrating north?
Sept. 25. Unalaska, Unalaska, S. Aleutian,
Spec. no. 2197 was taken from a
large flock of 500+ Pacific Kittiwakes with whom they associate.
They appear to be immatures &
are not very common. They look
Too large to me for Bonaparte Gulls
but I don't know what else they
Can be.
