480 Gimme SHORT BILLED GULL- Larus canus 1931 May 15- Seymour Narrows Trachypteryx Almost definitely identified this species from an individual in the flock of ship's gulls. It showed the clear yellow bill + black wing tips specked with white if an adult plumage. May 16 Queen Charlotte St.- Finlayson Channel. Two followed in wake of Boat. James St. Michael Alaska Fairly common in Marshes. Oct. 20. Akutan Bay, Akutan D. E. Aleutians Spec. 2277-78 have been tentatively treated Short Billed Gulls. The identification is by no means certain. Small dark colored gulls of this type are to be seen around here in small numbers only, but are easily distinguishable by their small size and correspondingly quicker movements from the larger Blancous Winged Gulls.
