Mayor Shelikof Strait - quite a large flock within us now - hang on motionless wings on starboard side (windward side) in the heavy wind, 50 m.p.h. This flight is essentially side- wise rather than forward. It is the longest bunch so far - once in a while at some bird utters a [illegible] harsh note - hungry? They vie with the shearwaters now for the scrap but are much more aggressive than the latter. The wind became so strong as might feel that the gulls left. May 31 Unalaska Unalaska, Alaska Very common, especially in Harbor. Many immatures; outnumber adults 4:1. Set in flocks on beach in front of town. Seawergs plenty, Saw no breeding colonies.
