469 Gilmore Glaucous Gull (3) 1931 numerous tho they may occasionally be seen flying along the beach or back on the lagorns. They have a couple of calls - one is a raucous scratch, across between the ears of a crow & the shrill scream of a chicken & the other is the typical gull squawk. Former is repeated half a dozen times or so in one breath. Very suspicious and wary. Aug 25 Cape Thompson, Alaska - Scarce. in the large rookery of Pallas Murre, Pacific Kittiwakes, and Horned Puffins Aug 26 Kotzebue Kotzebue Sd. Scarce. Aug 27 Elephant Pt. & Puffin Rock, Kotzebue Sd. Scarce at Elephant Pt. & quite common on Puffin Rock where many undoubtedly nest; because they were not so wary as usual. Aug 29 Nome - A large flock hung around the boat all day. There seems to be a greater percentage of immatures than before.
