443 Gilmore 1931 Jack Snipe James St., Nome, Alaska Notes from actions of Specimen 1014. It flew in large circles (1/4-1/2 mile in diam.) and 200 yds high. Flight was a series of rises & downward dips, a peculiar quavering scratch- out sort of noise made by voice or wings on each down dip. After few minutes it let on old boat. Whole took place on tundra west of Nome - much water in form of ponds & seepages present.
