King Eider
July 13, Sevonga St. Lawrence Is.
Bering Sea, Alaska Killed one out
of a mixed flock of King & Pacific
Eider several miles west of Camp
Collin on June 28. Those were all
of the King Eider I saw on that
trip. On July 5-7, going to &
from Siviktook Bay from Sevonga
I saw several small flocks-
never more than 15-20. They seem
to keep well off shore - As far
I have not seen any in the
lagoons or on lakes or rivers tho
they probably bred here. They are
smaller than the Pacific Eider &
the gray head is a distinctive mark.
