394 Gilmore HARLEQUIN DUCK Histrionicus h. pacificus 1931 May 31. Unalaska Bay - Unalaska Is., Alaska Called "Rock Duck" - commonest duck - generally in flocks of 6-20 along the rocky shore. Saw one flock of 100+ in main entrance off Simmons's Bay. Most often seen very close to rocky shore; feeds in several inches & several feet of water on shrimp, crustaceans etc. Often feeds sit on the rocks. White around base of bill in 3 is distinctive feature of color. June 20, 1931 Campbell, St. Lawrence Is., Alaska. One aa. 5 skin seen in Paul's house. June 28 Camp Collier St. Lawrence Is., Alaska One doubtful sight record, noted only because bird seemed to have the white patches on the head. July 5-7 Dirktook Bay (Hood west end), St. Lawrence Is., Bering Sea, Alaska - About 5 or 6 seen near rocky head lands at west end of bay - seen to be quite scarce - found right along rocky shore - white marking conspicuous. Sept. 19 Unalaska, Unalaska Is., Aleutians, Alaska. Today I saw about a half a dozen "Rock Ducks" along the rocky
