389 Gilmore Green Winged Teal D 1931 May 31 Unalaska, Unalaska Is., Aleutian Is., Alaska One taken - they are reputed to be numerous at the heads of marshes among alders & willows that fringe the creeks & ponds. Sept. 8 Unalaska, Unalaska Is., Aleutians. A Sailor on board killed a 7 yesterday probably up towards Captain's Harbor. Sept. 19 - There were upwards of 50 of these little ducks on Duck Lagoon back of Captain's Harbor. Most of them were close to shore but I found one about a mile back from the lagoon on a tiny pond just & the creek. They were shy and nervous - flapping wing at the slightest provocation. Oct. 3 English Bay W. Unalaska Is. Several dozen of these birds haunt of the stream at the head of the bay & were easily stacked. There appears to be many more & plumed birds here tho the ones I shot were 5's plumaged like 7's. Swanson states that out west he notices many more 3 plumaged birds than these 7's.
