Osawa & ad. hanging near the gallery
of the "northland" Today. A pair killed
it somewhere up by Captain's Harbor.
Sept. 19. Sawa flock of 10-12 in Sack
Lagoon back of Captain's Harbor.
Quite wary.
Oct. 2-3 English Bay, W. Uralaska Is.
I noted about a dozen of these birds
at the mouth of the creek flowing
into the head of the bay. They were
quite wary and hung together in a
single flock.
Oct. 4 Agamgik Bay, W. Uralaska Is.
There were several dozen birds along
the creek mouths of the bay, and
four were obtained for the table.
They were surprised in a small cove,
and killed as they took wing in
succession several seconds apart.
The Mallards fly high, 100-300-yds.,
and swing around in large circles
over the bay, but they never alight
for from fresh water. Their roosting
