poibet mice still active as I found three that had eaten poison wheat put out for ground squirrels. Brush rabbits were not so plentiful as they used to be and cottontails were becoming quite scarce in the valley. Jack rabbits were holding their own where they kept to the shelter of the orange and lemon groves. With the exception of the bats, all of the animals seemed to be active and were in very good condition.
