From inflated stalk enclosing annual
mass over pod attached by a length
mimic membrane on one side several
threads. Seds many, pendant,
oblong ovalate, depressed on one side &
rounded at base with long tuft of
silky hairs. Very like mil Dewed.

small parts not distinguished except
the much divided stigma.

Hetchy. Clear Valley Way Young fr. Quite like all
small ways but note that if spikelets
have 3 scales the palea is green very
scale-like & not thin & hyaline nor
"2-nerved." Otherwise this must be con.
sidered as having 4 scales & no palea.
Long
long erect the abscinate tip with
edges involute & whole blade with
edges curving forward so as to look
almost tubular. Ripe very short,
uter sheet edge minutely ciliate.
Spikelets at this stage only 2mm (inch)
long w/ minute fringe at top.
Panicule about 8in.

transversely wrinkled &. Racemes 3 in.
