vacuinate 9/10in erectate bud in peduncle Peduncle terminates in a stiff fleshy boat-like purplish spatha. Bending very accurately or rather this is the lowest of 3 facts the peduncle continuing completely obscured in its base, bearing 2 other facts similar but smaller. These boat-shape facts bear several flo (the lowest in this case) which are hidden in fact in bud & become erect in -- flowering at a time so that inflo. is of long duration, each fl subtended by broad lanceolate bract almost as long as path & retained in it. Flw pedicel sessile. Perianth superior to ovary, flat & pedicel like at base then divided in 6 parts. The 2upper (sepal)alike in long lanceolate, thelow (sepal) narrower stony by leafed & very acuminate. Of the 3 inner members (petals) the upper is short 1/2in wide and obvoid with a abrupt blunt tip, the 2lower conniving to form an arrow-shaped organ, with broad- ened inflated base in the groove in which lie stamens & jointed? stamens 5, filaments 1& in number 3/4in long. Style stiff & tough, platform with its 3/4 of style mostly exalted beyond the tongue. Ovary hidden in spatha 3in or more long] 3-sided, 3-celled with many ovules on axile placentae. Style 3-bisected, the branch each for thoroughly stuck together to be separated & set in bud. Juice banana acid smell. Sepals white (not a pure white) petals almost white but light blue tinged.
