4-11-29 Ceratonia Siliqua, L. Francisco p. 173 v B. M. Q.C.P. 426. Southlands. (Same as tree so named at Legui. Stat.) Pod 3½ in overall. At base a delicate ridge encircles it halfway around, at apex what seems to be remains of almost completely pelbate stigma folded into the edge of pod which bears the seeds. Green pod 5 long which bears it (prob. racios) infl. Inner his minutely puberulent. 4-11-29 Melianthus major L. p. 237 B.M.Q.C.P. 423 to flo pr. of collected Southlands. 4-11-29 Agave F.L. Southlands. F.L. (only withered dropped off flo collected & studied) Called by Mrs. Allan Dewith 3-28-29 Died. Saw at Base 7 flo at base of pole have a pubescent look. F.L. american upright or stout pole like cactus quite plant but greenish noted. bright yellow. Perianth (1½ in late & stiff) twice smaller than A. americana d 2-26-27. Flower all 2¾ in., vary at this spot 3¼ in. Style projects 1½ in beyond perianth ¼ in more less beyond filaments which are slender through- out. Perianth segments mass 3⅓ mm wide almost uniform throu- but lengths, much narrower than sinuses but broader than filaments. Perhaps the same as at 3-11-27. Base of vary (as it had fallen) oblique. 4-11-29 Pittosporum Tobia at p.62 B.M.Q.C.P. 337 Southlands under which pittosporum. Ciliate opened in house. Calyx partly de- ciduous. At base of each flo guster many imbricated rate.
