are not flat or incurved Possibly Cosmos but obviously much smaller than C. sulphureus, Car- 408 & B.M.Q.C.P.769 (which is only yellow cosmos in these two books) but agreeing with disc as underlined. Perhaps a case of deterioration as in the garden cosmos which I have seen run out into low plants v small fls at home. But pos. Bidena ferulaefolia D.C. B.M.Q.C.P.769 as fl & B from Jolna studied 3-20-29 has many similar points. Berbera jamesoni, x on collected 8in x4in, upper surface dark bright green & finely pubescent with single straght hairs not very close to gettle) on petiolaris. Lower bases. Under surface lighter with hairs longer & curly. Petiole 5 in. x 3-19-29 Berbera jamesoni, Bolivia p408 & B.M.Q.C.P.757. Flo only from Lalle laquet. Disk flo strongly bilabate, on broad lobe being 3 cored & v Shallo- wed by 3 to apex, the other curling outwar-d. the other lobe narrow, of equal length curling towards centre of head. Anther ring notched at tip but not cleft to fallen sacs. Anthers long tailed. Style 1, stigma 2 lobed. Each tip of corolla lobe reflexed somewhat lifted Disk flo seem infertile. Ray flo also bilabiate with 2 tiny filamentous lobes in front. These 2 lobes not quite as deeply divided from each other as from the ship. Stamens & 5 filaments but no anthers. Stigma lobes smaller than in disk flo. But rays fertile. achenes pubescent. Papery & many bristles & recurved forming tufts. Disk asept., 3-21-29 Plants preserved at Agrist, L with downward curled lobes like Freethanther.
