7-25-33 Rhamnus alpinus L. Cote I 275, Box 64. SVTI 446 Withering fl young fr. Path Naye towards Coux (below the higher of the water pipes but above the brook). Shrub standing erect perhaps 3 ft high. This leaves no question of identity. Young sts and petioles reddish & pubescent. Lvs bright green (crotten lighter beneath) slimy both sides deep beneath glabrous except on nerves beneath. Largest lns 9 x 3-5 cm, almost all are slightly cordate at base. Veins 10-13 pzr (hard to determine just where to stop counting at tip), very distinct be- neath. Calyx lobes broad △, 1½ mm long; calyx tube 1½ mm. (This is resident. ? F. formula 7-4-33 still more probable). 7-25-33 Papaver nudicaule L. SVTI 274, BMQCP 397 Fl. Rockside Naye (Near the alpine garden as might easily be an escape) Cf with P. alpinum L. (at top of path Naye-Stoddy). St decumbent at very base but total length 10-11 in. Stv calyx bristly with long brown spreading hairs Fl 1½ wide, a beautiful orange, the base of petals green (as that fl has definite ring in center). Stigma 4-rayed.
