Stigmae 3 a few ♀ float bases Perigynia scales ♀ virgins entire) glaucous green flattened orbicular broad rate, minutely granulate-papillose narrowed at base around but may be sharply acute. Upper spike erect with sheath 1-2mm only low curling glabrous low flat mostly near base about 4mm wide. Fruits of sheaths thin ligules white conspicuous. A male or female. Post stocks more or less horizontal curved loosely with long thin brownish scales of fruits joints zone thick orange-brown. is densely velvety rostr. Culin 3-5ed a little roughened toward top. Lowest floccose erect- 1-2mm wide, post tip of culm, often bracts or very narrow, very much shorter. Scales all near tip of culm. Scales narrower than Perigynia ½-1⅓ as long as cents to subulate brownish. Perigynia almost 4mm long. ♀ spikes less than 1cm long about ½ cm wide Scales seem deciduous. 352 P2 A 7-14-30 Carex Fr. RR faced bet F. le P. V Black Duck. Post same as above but stouter. Papilla has 3 ♀ float tips. Scales of ♀ pikes are considerably longer than in atror and purpurea [See 8-19-37]
