540 9-6-30 ??? McClennans found uprooted floating edge pond. Poss. seedling Najas? or advena? Pond which grows in pond. Is rather similar in shape overall but thin & translucent, criniform edges to 13/4 x 1 1/2 541 9-6-30 ? Sparganium augustifolium Michx. Fr. (uncertain) McClennan's Pond. Lvs floating 20 in long x 4mm wide. Thick & rounded, (leaves placed?) below, flat but firm above. Upper side green & white, lower side grayish & pitted looking from reticulations. Cels are single. Bracts with def perhaps "not conspicuous" occasions fully margin. (a) 2 seeds 3: the lower axillary peduncul- ed, the other 2 sessile on praxillary. (b) 2 seeds 2: the lower pedunculed & joint axillary the ped is adequate to at fr 1/2 in at raxil, the other sessile on praxillary. Seeds (a x S.) 1-5cm wide. Stigma 1+mm, black but looks more oblong than "linear" Achene pink from microscopic dots at base, tapers to straighter seed pts 1/2 line. Could this be S. augustifolium Michx & 69, Bv BI 75. Off with S. minimum Frics (9-13-30) v not the same. Achene flatter plumper broader. Sealed very red at base.
