337. H.P. Rd west of camp. Pedicels flat, spikelets very
distinct (to 9 mm.) Involucel & base of involucere black.
ish I vs bright green rather soft, 4-6 mm wide, dis-
tinctly rough on edges & mid-rib, broadest tip, less so
below. Culm terete smooth above upper half but lower
vs rough just below infl, 2 mm or a side. Spikelets 5 mm.
long. End glum, erect lowest if joint about 5 in. Scales
pretumed suffused with black.)

none of spikelets pedicelled falling group of 2-3 or perhaps
more) Spikelet 3 1/2 mm long (looks much smaller than
above). Involucel & involucels as black as in above, and
otherwise plant looks much the same. Perhaps a less
vivid green, & a little narrower w at tips when flat.
Scales brownish suffused black

Fl. on same road. Habenaria orbiculata. Has just
a dense spherical or somewhat irreg ball. Base glumicles
black and otherwise perhaps as much like above. Must be
S. cyperinus Kuntze var Condensatus Fernald or
S. atrocintus Fernald var Brachypodus Fernald V 195
which don't seem clearly distinguished in here.
Spikelet about 5 mm. Scales most like above.
