28 October · 896 : light jar; t=12x7mm
951 : molt - body plumage is a mixture
of old feathers and new feathers that
are almost completely formed. Feathers of
lower neck, breast, and upper back are out
of sheaths; feathers of lower belly and
back and under tail coverts are still
(barely) in sheath. No new feathers on
upper neck & head; some short brushes
in face. Apparently this bird began to
molt heavily, then stopped forming new
feathers while carrying those that had
already begun on to completion. One
countour feather shows an open growth
bar, suggesting nutritional deficiency after
molt had begun.
Heavy jar; t=4x2mm.
Bar coming off w/ cervical skin lacks
texture of c.f.o..
955 : molt - heavy over entire body -
early stage - pin feathers and short
brushes. Heaviest on neck.
Heavy jar; out to 1mm.
