Stipules small, narrowly linear acum-inate, axil persisting but drying v. red. de- ciduous. Lvs acute or acuminate at apex, obtuse at base, lateral nerves strong (several). lf serrate but tip of tooth turned inward so that only its rounded back is visible to eye...Lfs dark green above, somewhat lighter veining below, glab- rous except poss. on veins beneath.
