Pubescence sparse veilay appressed. Lvs glabrous above ("slightly coriaceous") & glaucous tolt sides. 7-22-29 Senecio aureus L. G 854, BoB III 544. Fl. Force le Plain. Basal lvs springing from rosetch (not at immed- iate base of fl. st.) vary much more deeply cordate than ill. Plant over 2 ft high. Basal lvs 3¼ x 27/8. Tips of involucral bracts dark & somewhat woolly or margined. Fl head 1 in acros x ½ in high. 7-22-29? Senecio Balsamitae Muhl G 854 = S. paniculatus Michx BoB III 545. Fl. near above. 8 in high. Fl head smaller (3/4 in acros x 1/4 in high). Corresponds to disc. BoB except glabrous throughout, not so well to disc. G. Young albescens look as if they would be hispidulous on edges.
