BvB #490 ft. Marsh, east side Ford Rd., Baxalis
7-12-29 lf. only from garden of Elsie Cook, called "Bara
Gilade" Basal lf. with petiole 7½ in long, triangular
with shallow, wide groove on top. Blade oblong
5¼ x 2 in; apex blunt, base inequilateral, finely blub-
berrited, light-bright green. Both sides appear
pubescent (perhaps glabrous later) & shining
oil glands [20x]. The few definite lateral veins
branch & rebranch so that the many ultimate
veinlets terminate each side of the
edge (each tooth having a veinlet). Purplish
vols. (St. ridged as observed in garden east of R.P.
Castysville 7-15-29) Reported as not flowering.
7-12-29 lf. only "Lad's Love" from garden of Elsie Cook
7-12-29 Linnaea borealis L. var americana Pelles
G, 757 = L. americana Forbes. BvB #276 Fl. Woods en
route to Elsie Cook's house. Pedicel, bracts, calyx—all
glandular pubescent. One pair (the larger) bracts
at base of ovary very densely glandular. Elsie calls
this "Maiden's Flower". It is blossoming in clots
in marsh east of the Ford road.
