8-5-29 acuminate, rough above & roughish pubescent on veins beneath. Lower lvs approaching entire but upper ones serrate with low but sharp teeth except at base of tip. Fl 4 or more pec, 9 or so stiles, Corymbose. the lower on long slender branches which bear 1-3 very small br near summit & reaching almost to terminal fl. Fl. lineaceus, violet ↓ (not dark), 32-38 rays. Involucres 7/16 in high, bracts in several series, acute or obtuse tips markedly spreading (very noticeable in buds) lvs green with whitish borders which is not entire nor yet consistently ciliate. Achenes glabrous, pappus prob not pure white (at least ?). Lvs a dark bright green, only a little lighter beneath. Del A. Radula at G 805, BvBIII 425 (thelvs in outline are more like illo & A. nor-belgii). G 813, BvBIII 431 vs pec agrees w desc in G as to scabrous lvs. [Evidently same as 8-18-29 Fl Rd shortly east of Highlands Camp & thus to be A. radula. the lvs proportionately narrower then in ill G and BvB. Trifoliolata 8-5-29? Prenanthes Trifoliata Fernald G 871 = Nabalus trifoliatius Cane BvBIII 336 Fl. Near above, 22 in high. St purplish below & pappus seems likely to be dark enough for P. alba and lvs are more divided, being "angulate or triangulate"
