glabrous. Clis. fls. very small on slender horizontal peduncles. 7-27-29 ? Anthoxanthum odoratum L. G 121, BvBI 7/11 Fl. Trout Rk. Indepwoods, just west of limestone beach. (N.B. found in fl 6-31-39 Spruce Rk). 3 ft high. Glumes only very sparsely pilose. Pedicels hairy. Awns 2nd sterile lemma strongly twisted (not bent) at base v dark colored. # 92 7-27-29 Holcus lanatus L. G 137 = Nothoholcus — Nack. BvBI 2/14. Fl. Meadows along Trout Rk. Panicle not "purple" but white, the glumes being bright white with green nerves. Awns not hooked as far as observed. 7-27-29 Festuca Early fl. Dry poor soil, upper part of field at mouth of Trout Rk. Culms 4-9½ in slender wiry looking naked, as the few lvs. are on lower part with involute blades less than ½ in long. Panicles ½ -¾ in long, purplish & more or less glaucous. Culms purplish above. Basal lvs. none longer than 5½ in & often much less. Spikelet usually 7-8mm long in- cluding awns (longest 10mm). Lemma 5-7mm in- cluding the 1-2mm awn. Lemma mostly smooth but one culm from same clump had lemmas definitely glaucous. Perhaps F. rubra L. G 161, BvBI 3/70
