Transcription
on edges of spikes: upper very close to the
middle only shortly below the lower on a ciliary
st. from near the base of st. Directly up each spike
short (i.e. scarcely overtopping spikes); bract of
middle spikes long (i.e. overtopping spikes by ±
15 mm). Spikes short about 4 fls. Fr 5mm long, perigynia
obovate, flattened into a somewhat acclined beak
(1mm long), shortly 2-cliff. Perigynia nerved, and almost
glabrous (perhaps not desc. as minutely hisped [box]
scaly?) & green or black, red-brown edges, nervd.
not quite as long as fs. Styles 3. Aclene trigonous,
3½ mm long with a little over the tip (1mm) which is bent
to one side. Face of aclene may poss. be transversely
wrinkled later (as at all time of this). Ingle fls
very short truncate (hardly more than a ridge)

gorge. Cd with R. chalepensis from Bellos, but plant
plainly recognized without comparison. Plant
larger & stouter in all parts, st vld dark green (gray-
green in species), bracts large throughout mpls.
