Rays short & unequal but all upright (not scattered See Bon C. badius Desf.). Scales thin v bright red purpl (lilac at crimson) on sides, with several nerves in the narrow green stripe down middle. Difficult to decide whether 11 green acute but mill - nerves along to very tip. Stigmas 3. Roots creeping not thick & the dug up for severel inches for no tubercles Not C. longus L which is perhaps one in C. - l. forma badius Bon 2 340 tho' plants has not branches infl.
