582 12-23-30 Andropogon contortus L. Cate #556 =G. Allionii DC. Rm 353 (See 11-30-30) F2. Same place as 11-30-30 13-29-30 ?? Phytolacca divica L. R.M. C.P. 356 (Kn I 51 says it is cult in Palestine) Flo! Large tree across road from dog Car Catala Hotel. Israelt. ex- atipulate, thick leathery (evidently evergreen) glabrous entire, gray-green beneath, dull green above, ovate, very oblique at base, narrowed at apex with the midrib projecting 2mm in such a way that edges of flat very tip seem rolled forward to tip of leaf blade. Lve to 3 1/2 x 4l- mpt dm, veined as in ill P. decandra L. Cate III. 169. Petioles to 5in. (like the midrib) cream colored. Inflo raceme 2 1/2 in long, many small flo. Pedicels subtended by a bract & small bracts near base. Sepals yellowish, concave, almost orbicular, denticulate at apex. Petals 0 Stamens 20+, around a thickish disk. Ovaries? Filaments longer than sepals, attached to body of anthers. Pollen sacs ||. Tops of disks covered with several small fleshy bodies which might well be rudiments of stamens. P. flo & flo found on the 1 raceme collected.
