somewhat angled and prod. lanceolate toward
top. Inv probably tall, hairy. St. simple,
monocephalous or 1-few branched. invol.
1 cm. light of few lanceolate, lispid bracts
(which envelop the outer achenes) with a few
minute bracts at base (undoubtedly this is a re-
mainder of "plumose" effect found on pappus, though
for most part pappus interior achenes seem
to naked & dehisculate broad-lance hairs (or
scales) at tip of the alternate braks.) For all achene
