"Young growth" v "v" striby. Remains of calyx (with attached hairs) cling tightly to sep-tale. Not at all like C. monopelensis rouglened with plant (1-2cm). Seed 1+mm, brown dotted white dots. Capsule 6mm high, slightly hairy pub at top, with tendency not to split open but when it does, splitting simply loculicidally as in C. eldus! Not as in C. monopelensis! (see 11-27-30) 11-22-30 Carduus Fl. Arenal (see ??C. tenuiflorus Cut 2-13-30 and 3-17-30) Either C. tenuiflorus Curt or C. pyg-nocephalus L which New Index (see Kn #487 v BvH 261) considers the same. We consider them distinct as do Bar v Bor. In this spec, stalle is slender v "Cardacennudovenae apice" wings narrow v might be called "interruptidas" but heads are practically sessile. Interior scales somewhat shorter than fle v ideal 2cm+ (others shorter) see Bor) So determination difficult. As 3-13v 3-17-30 no brilliant yellow glands on outside in-volucere [Bar], neither Bar nor BvH mention this. Also as 2-13v 3-17-30 antlers seem to have acute caudate tips (but see #495on white tube) Cynar-eae) Note also filaments hairy v style with ring of hairs at top. 11-22-30 Caleila maritina Sels. Deops (see 10-26-30) Fl & fr. Can Pastella-Arenal. Segl br after linear, not as in ill BvH # III.
