2-14-30 Passerina lutea L Kn II 214, Bon 276 = Thymelea — Endl Bas 487 (See B.M.) C.P. 528 [for clar] [ family] Flv fr. Shore opp Las Illetas v or island. Plaintly Thymelaceae v not Daphne. But the short leaves overlapping lvs are smooth only on the dark green under side. The edges are rolled up- ward and the upper surface thickly covered with white tomentum, like atena v exterior calyx. Only fls found but plenty of fr in various stages on same plant. (See 11-22+30 ? Fl (far too young to study) Rd to fort south [ junction with high- way west ] Cas Catala. 18 high. much branch- ing from base (for not shrubby). Many branches sterile. Glabrous, glaucous, grayish. lvs firm v coriaceous. Those on sterile branches opp (as are slender secondary branches) on fertile braches alt; sessile, thick glaucous, reflexed, lanceolate, pointed with spreading, irregular sharp teeth [on] large lvs. lvs almost semi-circular clasping, sharply toothed yellowish. Umbels synmoe (usually a single fl head bet rays) 2-7 rayed, compound, some- times with single ray from in axil Buper fl. Flawde yellow, rounded on outside. Capsule [very
