Short cut thru field just above Alfaba (and past further up on so side of divide). Low almost prostrate. All ls simple, oblanceolate, entire, acute, tapering to slender petiole to 1 x 1/4 in overall. No wtd definite lanceolate, acute stipules [Bass] attached to petiole to abov middle, white edged & uste, the rest often red. The stipules of successive ls closely overlapping (giving final flat shingled brtts to stem). Ls rather thickish, dull green, only the mid nerv evident, more or less white pubescent (silky) caps. on edges. Peduncles longer than ls to 1 1/2 in (Doery do they lengthen in fr? I spec fr only collected with peduncle 5 in). Peduncle bears 1-5 fls (usually 1) with very small (short oblong) slightly toothed white bract below fl. (really at base of each ped- icle) or inside. [Bass] "hastilanceolata" s. "aliflora" Caly tubular 6 mm long cut about half way to base in 5 obsp teeth. Lower 3 teeth separated by wide but pointed sinuses. The 2 upper teeth narrower v less deeply divided; 2 lated sinuses rounded v deeper than any of others. Fl abt 9 mm overall. Corolla deep yellow, standard delicately veined red. Keel turned upward v narrowed at tip. Stamens clearly dia- delfinis (Bass & mandelflorus) Filaments
