Rouge's Instructor at English Bay He speaks a little english but Mr. Zacoury much more. From these men I learn that [Chalomin said 161,000] Premier paid $200,000 for the island [Red Book says 125,000] and has it now 12 years. During this time he has spent annually $200,000 and hardly a penny has he received in return. At Ellis Bay he has had built a Chateau costing 800,000 francs. This a place to live for himself and to entertain his guests. It is as he has been on the island each alternate year. At present Premier seems to be much disgusted with his investment and is letting go. The Savoy took away on her last trip to Quebec at least 75 people depopulating the island po- pulation which was not over 350 per- sons at any time.
