"On the Gulf, Friday, July 3. My birthday and 58 years completed. In these years much has been accomplished and yet under proper conditions how much more could have been done. I still have 10 good years before me so far as teaching and research work is concerned. At Yale I should have had opportunities to make good. At 8 O.M. we are at Ford Park, a string of about 20 houses on the track in front of high crystalline mountains. The south slope looks of high and mountains with a lawn free land.
