P. D. Benedicts 1965 26 June Barrow, Alaska, Much of which did not appear to be nesting, esp. Longspurs. Saw 2 jaeger nests and a complete divuln nest; and heard considerable display including the Cackling Swanp. in Holmes' Morass. In the evening Hamilton +I went out behind the animal hut to look for some odd birds he had seen earlier but found only 3 nests & heard lots of display. Saw hummingbirds near the 1st Twin and a Snowy Owl crossing the area. I am really losing track of Twins, so I can tell the day of the week only by the mercuries! 27 June Got up late and went on a nest hunt with Hamilton, which fairly successful. We started about 10 A.M. and went out in the tunnel area, going out to the end of the 1st bare shelf (100 yards) and worked zig-zag down to Family Lagoon, when we came back for more stakes. Saw all three jaegers and a good sampling of Bairds + Semipals; the Yellow Wagtails were a pleasant surprise. It was warm, calm and pleasant and the snow is only about 20-25% cover now. We then got a ride to the VORT area, and walked down to VORT Slope, erudibrode the usual way to the web. The whole area was fairly quiet and except in those parts originally opposed there were very few shorebirds, most Red Phalaropes with scattered Pinkies and Peatrels. We saw a flock of 12 small (seemled like West.) +1 large "perp" flying East over the area. The comments
