19 Aug Meade River Cod Mine, (57°25'W, 70°27'N, Alaska
The morning spent along the river by camp
polking around. A group of 3-4 golden
aurals, 5-10 golden plovers flew over. One
dunlin. I decided to check lake
Agassiz, with good results. In the section
by C2 there was 1 phaoope, a group
of 9 and 3+ lone pectrals, mostly
restless and flying over + from the
marble areas. There I saw redtail once
one day between polygons not
feeding. Around lake Agassiz proper
there were 3 Arctic hens + 5 pintail
in the lake; 3 lone jays. Red Phalaropes
in the distant marble section, and
a group of 7, a group of 4, and about
half a dozen lone pectrals, probably
come from the other part of the lake,
in the marble area around the edge,
along with at least 1 dunlin. An
arctic tern feeding over the lake. Saw
a Pomarine Jaeger fly over, the 1½
in a long turn. I went up over the ridge
beek where de Parentis nested (they are
gone now) and here found a loose group
of 6-7 pectrals, 1? Bails, +2 Dullers
which I saw only in flight, but
which seemed to come from marble polygons
