12 August Heale River Cool Hing (15°25'W, 70°27'N)
The dense habitats attracted no special
nesting birds - as feet were rather devoid
of birds. Raptors were scarce, as might be
expected in the absence of humming. The
area is more diversified than Barros, but
much less so than Cape Thompson.
13 August Spent the day entertaining two photo-
graphers from National Geographic &
helping out Art McKee, who is very
slant bended today. Got the word that
Steve is desperate for mosquitoes. To
fod the flight is 500 (threw god').
I'll get them from inside the warinigas
windows. Spent most of the day near
the warinigas and along the thaw
(Phil's) Haunts, and saw very few
birds - a couple of pectorals by lake
Agassiz, no shorebirds on the far side of
the river, and scattered Longspurs. In the
evening went to the old site of Atha site
To see what is left - just of sod found-
ations rapidly sprouting grasses and
Artemisia trisici, and some foundation
shapes. No very evalway, but we didn't
try to dog. Found a very rare Euphagus
[illegible] Rose. Spent a lot of time using up
the film I just got on the sunset.
