R. Benedetti 1966 Formals 10 August Meade River Cool Olive, 157°25' W, 70°27' N, Kotta Along the river in the cotton, Langspurs were Scattered and conspicuous, yet not flopped; there was at least 1 Savannah & 2 White-crowned Sparrows, and I noted 4 Redpolls, including 2 fledglings lacking the red cap. Wagtails (3-4) flushed from the willows occasionally; I collected one. Other birds seen were 2 Arctic Terns (in the marsh), 3-4 Black-capped Gulls, 4 Red-throated Loons (in the river) and 3-5 Pavarie Tanager including the pair in the marsh, that acted weakly like they had young (distraction display, etc.). I got a young Eunice from the village, which Duke Guy Shegardi's dog caught on the evening of the 8th. But says this is not the same one he had seen at the village, being paler and smaller. It skinned nicely. Cajian. 11 August I decided to walk downstream along the river to the dune area to the North, and to see what was along here. The wind blew down a little so it was almost pleasant. Near the mouth of village creek there seemed to be a loose congregation of 12+ Longspurs, 3 Savannah and at least 3 White-crowned Sparrows with Blue. Along the village flats I flushed occasional lone Longspurs, one Redpoll & one Wagtail from the willows. There was one Semipalmated Sandpiper (etc. 12) I have seen since the 4th.
