8 August Meade River Coel Pine, 157°25'W, 70°29'N, Okefa.
Wind is hopeless. Went to the census plot and
the upper part of lake Agassiz to see what
was around. The area is obviously past
peak flower and the grasses on the upland
habitats are starting to brown. Only the
latest flower and snow bank areas still
in flower. There are small groups of
longspurs. On the census plot saw only
2 cluckin, 2 Willow Plummigan, 4-5-
longspur, plus 5 Red Phalarope + 3 longspur
+1 Waytail which flew over. The cluckin
were both immature, along the now empty
cross-center polygon posts, and the plummigan
were adults. Saw 1 Black Belly Plover in
the polygonal area South of this plot. The longspur
in complete plumage and two without tails.
There were 10-2 Red + 1 Nathan Phalarope
in the lake by 1/6 post and many swans
in the marsh along habetgapy. The edge
of the lake is nearly empty, only 1-2" of water
at the post, and eventually with 100%
cover cover, the plants space 2-4" apart.
There were at least 4-6 Pectorals (lack, gully,
alarm calls, +2 immatures), 2 male & long
billed Dowthbeers, which acted like they had
chicks (I could find them) feeding along the
marches, and 4-6 Red and at least 12
