P. DeBenedictis 1464 Journal 13 July Meade River Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 70°27'N, Alaska marker, on west Eriophorus flat area. Scattered longspurs, we and flushed several fledglings, at least. A White-crown sparrow gave long series of chip notes from the river bluff, but I couldn't find anything. They are still singing across the river. The local golden plovers have now worked over by ils 3.2 marker and its nesting pair is still W of the nest. Only 1 Semipalmated, near the latter pair of plovers. There seem to be fewer longspurs here than last time, but I don't know where the extras may have gone. Spent the afternoon in camp riling, and went toward the village and the village plots in the evening. There was no shorebird activity here at all, but several gray wagtails and lots of adults. The local Wogtail fledged between 9 and noon today, leaving one egg in the nest. Ant McKee said he saw 2 Ravens about noon. 14 July Stayed in the A.H writing notes. In the afternoon went to the flats by the far side of the Meade To collect birds. I went almost as far as the dunes, then walked nearly to the N. ends of the area. There was little activity except for mosquitoes, so had it were a head net most of the turn. The Semipalmated activity was localized in 3 areas, and there were no groups of adults like
