Meadow River Coal Mine, 15°25'W, 70°27'N, Nuk.
briefly. There were 3-5 Semipals feeding on the
Cornucularia flat at the N end and up to
7 together at the S end. The Plovers
are still in cobaltine. There were only half a
dozzen Arctic Terns over h. Agassiz this time
and few Sabine Gulls were in evidence - I
saw no ducks on the lake except 1 Oldsquaw.
Near the cornucularia flat in the Eriophorum
flat, a f of dunlin gale about calls but
didn't feed, and was soon joined by 1-2 Semip-
als. Pectoral were noted along the edge of
the lake but did not seem to be nesting birds.
I went walk through the Terns plot. Only,
a few Semipals and dunlin were there,
all in the Eriophorum flats and the golden
Plovers are just finishing. One egg has a
hole in the shell & the others are cracked,
should hatch by tomorrow. Stayed in much of
the afternoon then went over by the village to see
if any tins was there, but mosquitoes were impossible.
Didn't really try to get it in the evening,
but skimmed a Wagtall young from Ternut by camp.
9 July
The weather turned very bad and the mosquitoes
seem to have disappeared, so I went to check the Terns
plot. Not much activity due to the wind, but
most of the nests were watched now and its
settling fairly quiet time. There are now longipennis
